Security Officer (Zero Hours) – Shift Related 21890

An opportunity has arisen to join a small and highly motivated team of Security Officers at The Historic Dockyard Chatham to provide ad-hoc cover for leave etc on a zero hours basis and to assist at large events and functions. You will be required to work on various shifts including nights and weekends as required.

Essential Job Requirements

– A current SIA licence (Door Supervisor)
– A current First Aid at work qualification.
– A minimum of two years’ service within the security or equivalent industry.

Desirable Job Requirements

– CCTV operation and monitoring experience.
– Conflict management course qualification.
– Experience of working in a visitor attraction/mixed use site

Main Duties

To provide both static gate security and patrolling security duties to control access and to protect the Trust’s estate and assets while providing a high level of front facing customer and visitor care to the many and differing users and visitors to our site and our residential and commercial communities.

Closing date for applications is 17.00hrs on Friday 27th July 2018.

Shift pattern: 07:00-19:00 / 4 x 12 hour shifts/4 off
SIA CCTV (PSS) license required.
The successful applicant will be professional, confident and well-presentable, whose primary role will be to run our busy Control Room overseeing and coordinating activities, staff and contractors on a day-to-day basis. You will also work very closely beside the Security Manager in coaching and supporting Security Officers.
Duties will include:
• Communicating effectively, confidently and have good working relationships with all levels of staff including subordinates, colleagues, Centre Management and Red Support Services Management.
• Monitor and operate the CCTV cameras, security systems and alarm monitoring devices in the CCTV Control Room
• Ensure Health & Safety procedures are adhered to across all areas and actively seek out potential breaches, rectifying and/or escalating where appropriate
• Record and report any incidents that occur immediately and take ownership until the incident is complete
• Make and maintain accurate records of events, handing-over or escalating where appropriate
• Be knowledgeable and have a good understanding of current PSS CCTV legislation and regulation
• Assist the Police in respect of preparation of evidence and other activities associated with attendance at Court as a witness.
• Participate in team briefings and meetings, and where necessary attend on behalf of Security Management
• At all times the candidate must maintain and respect the security and sensitivity of the service. You must comply with the adopted Code of Practice and service operational procedures at all times
• Working closely with local crime reduction agencies including Tunbridge Wells CCTV Control Room, Kent Police, Tunbridge Wells Safe Town Partnership and Tunbridge Wells Community Safety Unit.

The role of the Security Controller is to ensure that the correct manning levels are always maintained and they are to have a hands-on approach and lead by example. Working alongside our Client Managers, the role will also include responsibility for delivering a comprehensive and professional service to our clients by delivering on all Operational aspects of the Company.
The hours are 12 hour shifts working on a rolling roster, 6 on (3 days and 3 nights) and 3 off.
The salary for this position will be £26,000.00 per annum.
The job involves:
• Ensuring all sites are correctly manned
• Rostering using IT bespoke software
• Handling a high volume of telephone calls with varying requests
• Arranging cover for sites under strict time restraints
• Logging all incidents and issues on site and following them through to completion
• Updating computer systems to ensure all information is accurate and correctly logged
• Monitoring and correctly responding to emails (outlook)
• General Administration
To succeed in this role, you will need:
• Excellent customer service skills
• A valid SIA licence
• Current UK Driving License
• Computer Literate (good knowledge of Microsoft)
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• ‘Can do’ attitude
• Experience of working in a customer facing environment
• Excellent time management and administration skills
